Past, Present, and Future

Founded in 1935

The Union Baptist Church was organized under the leadership of the late Reverend Joseph Nelson with the help of the Eastern Delaware Deacons and Minsters Conference on May 17, 1935.  Reverend Nelson served as Pastor until 1937 when Reverend William Turner was called to preach the gospel for seventeen years until he retired. In January of 1955, Reverend Allen R. Wynn was called to head the congregation and preached, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.”  In July 1975, Pastor Johnnie L. Williams, Sr. was called as Interim Pastor and a year later was installed as Pastor. Pastor Williams ordained and installed several Deacons, Deaconess, ordained two sons, licensed seven sons and one daughter to the Ministry.  Pastor Williams retired effective December 31, 2018. Rev. Rodney Borden, an associate minister of the church, was tasked with becoming the Interim Pastor until the Lord sent a pastor to lead the church. Rev. Borden served as the Interim Pastor.  Rev. Christopher E. McBeth was that mand.   He was installed as the 5th pastor of the Union Baptist Church in June 2019.
